The Nikon Stereo microsopes statting from the compact SMZ745, the Super-Ergo-SMZ800 to the Top, the SMZ25:

Featuring the highest zoom magnification in its class at 7.5x zoom, Nikon Instruments introduces the new SMZ745 line of stereo microscopes. By optimizing the design of the Greenough optical system, Nikon was able to realize a 7.5x zoom and a total magnification from 3.35x to 300x. With the adoption of the new total reflection prism, the SMZ745 allows bright and high contrast images to be obtained. Additionally, the SMZ745 features a zooming knob equipped with a click-stop for each magnification, and a long working distance of 115mm, providing enough room for fabrication and manipulation on the sample.

Designed for various applications and environments, the SMZ745 also offers ESD protection to prevent samples from being damaged by electrostatic discharge. Plus, the anti-mold design in the interior of the zoom body allows the microscope to be used in environments where the temperature and humidity are high.

New Super Ergo SMZ800N stereomicroscope offers improved work efficiency with evolved operations:

Expanding the magnification range to 8x (1x -8x), Nikon's newest stereomicroscope boasts its ease of use and high-definition observation demanded in fields such as the IVF market. Additionally, newly developed “Plan Apo WF” and “ED plan WF” objectives deliver clearer, crisper images.

The SMZ800N comes with a 1 – 8x zooming range, with higher magnification than conventional models and enables high-resolution observation.

• Highest-in-class zoom ratio from 10x - 80x
• Expandable with a wide range of accessories
• Eyepiece tubes with various inclination angles and slim-type
• High-level chromatic aberration correction provides sharp images throughout the viewfield.

THE SMZ25: a Giant step Forward for stereo Microscopy

The SMZ25 and SMZ18 are revolutionizing stereomicroscopy with their unique zoom range, along with modularity, comfort and ultra-high-performance optics. These new SMZ cover a wide range of functionality, from basic stereoscopic images of unparalled quality to the most sophisticated observation. The SMZ25 / SMZ18 is ideally suited for both industrial tasks as well as bioscience and medical applications. The extremely large zoom range and high resolution allows users to image the sample from its entirety down to its microscopic details.

The largest zoom range (25:1) (SMZ25) and exceptional resolution

The new Nikon stereo microscopes incorporate a newly developed zoom system (Perfect Zoom System). The Perfect Zoom System is a breakthrough in stereo microscope design, enabling both an incredible zoom range of 25:1 (0.63-15.17x) and a high numerical aperture of 0.156 (for SMZ25, 1x Objective, at the highest zoom), which allow researchers to image both the entire sample as well as its microscopic details using just a single instrument. Especially, the SMZ25 boasts a 35mm field of view at the lowest magnification of 0.63x (using 1x objective, 10 x eyepieces), enabling users to image the entire 35mm dish. At the high magnification range, Nikon’s newly developed high performance objective lenses allow imaging of microscopic structures once considered too small to visualize on a stereo microscope.

  • World’s largest zoom range (25:1) and highest resolution in the SMZ series (SMZ25)
  • Motorized focus ( Z axis) and zoom operation with the SMZ25, motorized X-Y stages
  • Crystal clear images in fluorescence as well as normal illumination techniques
  • Easy-to-operate slim LED DIA base with OCC illumination (oblique lighting method developed by Nikon)

The stereo or stereoscopic is an optical microscope variant designed  to start with magnification observation of a sample, typically using light reflected from the surface of an object rather than transmitted through it. The instrument uses two separate optical paths with two objectives and eyepieces to provide slightly different viewing angles to the left and right eyes. This arrangement produces a three-dimensional visualization of the sample being examined. Stereomicroscopy overlaps macrophotography for recording and examining solid samples with complex surface topography, where a three-dimensional view is needed for analyzing the detail.

The stereo microscope is often used to study the surfaces of solid specimens or to carry out close work such as dissection, microsurgery, watch-making, circuit board manufacture or inspection, and fracture surfaces as in fractography and forensic engineering. They are thus widely used in manufacturing industry for manufacture, inspection and quality control. Stereo microscopes are essential tools in entomology.
